Tow Truck Driver Killed in Colorado Springs

At around 11:00 a.m. on 02/23/2011 tow truck driver Allen Rose was killed after trying to tow an illegally parked vehicle at the Park Hill Apartments on Murray Blvd just south of Platte. A 32 year old woman driving an SUV must have noticed her vehicle in the process of being towed as she proceeded to climb in her vehicle and drive away to prevent this from happening. In the process of the woman driving off, sources state that the cable used to hook up the car broke and Allen Roses’ legs became entangled in the cables, and Rose was dragged for over a mile screaming for his life. One witness said, “she could feel his pain.” and another source states that in the process his legs were torn from his torso. The driver of the SUV told her cousin that she didn’t hear Allen Rose screaming as he was being dragged down the road. The Colorado Springs Police Chief stated that they need to examine all evidence in the crime scene that stretches over a mile and a half. A lot of people don’t relize how dangerous this job can be without towing illegally parked vehicle. Towing cars off of the highway during the day as people don’t slow down as passing can be just as stressful.

After a week the DA’s office has not charged the 32 year old woman, but has been accused of vehicular manslaughter and is now free on a $50,000 bond.

Buzz’s towing will donate 5% of every tow to the Allen Rose family from 2/24-3/24/2011 in an attempt to help with their loss. He was a husband and a father of two.

We would like to know what you think of the situation.
